This was a particularly outstanding conversation with Mr. Bard, and I’m very impressed, Daniel, with how you guided the conversation. It was great to hear about Bard’s life leading him into philosophy, and I appreciate the distinction between how the internet will continue to become “a single nation without borders” while humans break off into smaller tribes. I also really like his distinction between “primary” and “secondary” archetypes, as well as his reflections on the emerging role of rural life in creative communities, a point with which I completely agree with and have witnessed myself. Anyway, just wanted to say that Subscribing to your Substack was easy after listening to this—well done!

Thanks for taking the time to comment! Very encouraging to read this :)

I also particularly liked archetypology model. There's a highly practical implication to it: ask your friends to tell you what you're good at. They will see things that you don't. They will define the primary archetype for you -- which is your role in the community.

My delight, and I myself particularly liked how practical that advice was and possible to do right at this very moment. Very powerful and useful!

Lots of things but right now it was both the Digital Temples which gave me new language and context for a vision I have long been incubating and the sort of Psychotopography of everywhere, nowhere and somewhere orientations and how they will shape the tribopoietic processes of cultural evolution going forward. Also I loved the recognition of technology being essentially a globalising borderless force which may run in contrast with a deepening of human place based physicality.

Aside from the content it felt a really good balance between the two of you, Its a joyous rollercoaster listening to Alexander and I felt your presence of holding the space to be very strong and humble, an excellent flow. Thank you

Thanks for the kind, encouraging words Tom. I'm happy you found the conversation valuable.

The wifi-castles/digital monasteries thing had the same effect on me. I'm currently reading Sloterdijk - You Must Change Your Life. It's as if he's providing the philosophical basis for these ascetic, intentional communities.

Lots of convergence with my intuitions (and perhaps yours). I'll likely write a book summary in a future post.
